About Elbows Out

**Elbows Out** is an independent Canadian accountability journal. The name is borrowed from the old hockey instinct — when the game gets tight, you don't shrink, you put your elbows out and hold your ground. That's the posture we take toward power: not partisan cheering, not cynicism for sport, but the stubborn habit of writing down what was promised and checking what happened. ## What we publish - **The Promises** — the major commitments of the Carney government, stamped against the record: kept, broken, in progress, rolled back, or abandoned. - **The Record** — a balanced overview of the administration's platform, its accomplishments, and its shortfalls, kept side by side on purpose. - **The Files** — thirty-four short argument pieces. Each one takes a single promise or policy, states the facts, and closes with **The Point**: our opinion, clearly labelled as such. - **Evidence** — the statistics, dates, and sourced reporting the files rely on. - **Inner Circle** — who runs the government, and where the people around the Prime Minister have stumbled. ## How we work Facts and opinions are kept in separate boxes. Numbers, dates, and quotations live in the evidence file with their sources; judgments live in the point boxes and carry our signature. When the record changes — a promise kept late, a number revised — we update the stamp and note the change. We are not affiliated with any political party, and nothing here is authorized by anyone. That's the point. ## Corrections If you find a factual error, send the file number and the correction. We fix facts quickly and argue about them slowly.
